Heat Economics in Vancouver Island

The Capital Regional District (CRD), which has a population of about 340,000 on southern Vancouver Island, first became interested in the feasibility of using heat extracted from municipal sewer and water systems in 2007 when the British Columbia government requested all local governments in BC to sign on to a Climate Action Charter. Within the next two years, the CRD and almost all other local governments in BC signed this Charter, which committed each local government to achieving carbon neutrality by 2012 and also to creating more energy efficient communities. access, discussion, and conversation that is virtually endless.
