Engaging Post-secondary Institutions

“My post pressing issue is certainly running the university. However, the university is an important part of the city so you can’t really separate them. Most of the things the city can do for the university are related to broadly defined infrastructure. If you want to build a modern city or make your city livable, there are certain things you need to pay attention to. Obviously, education is a key element, in addition to health and social services, transportation and cultural activities. In those appropriate areas, clearly a university has an important role to play, starting with education. One of the key questions I pose to my colleagues is “What are we doing to work with our schools?” It’s not only good to have a reputable university, it’s equally important to have good schools. This way, we can create a seamless infrastructure for education.”
