THE NEW RULES OF THE RECRUITMENT ROAD: HOW TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN VOLUNTEERS

In the summer of 2015 I had the pleasure of learning that I would receive the highest honor the academic field of nonprofit studies accords: the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) Award for Distinguished Achievement and Leadership in Nonprofit and Voluntary Action Research (formerly called the ARNOVA Award for Distinguished Lifetime Achievement). I was also invited to address the thousand or so attendees at the ARNOVA Conference later that year in November to offer my reflections and commentary on what my studies of nonprofit organizations and volunteering over these many years had taught me. So began a summer of intense, and enjoyable, reflection.
