PSD Data Analytics

As leaders in municipal research, strategy, and analysis, Public Sector Digest has launched PSD Data Analytics, a comprehensive national performance measurement initiative for Canada’s municipal practitioners and decision-makers. Rather than providing a high level overview of municipal indicators, PSD Data Analytics drills deep into strategic priority areas identified by our readers and clients across the country, providing meaningful comparative performance analysis.

Performance measurement is becoming a ubiquitous and time-consuming part of municipal governance, and for most municipalities, the capacity for staff to measure and report on key indicators is already severely limited. Furthermore, the true value of performance measurement lies in the ability for a community to benchmark its progress over time, but also against other similar communities. Consistent and standardized benchmarking across municipalities is a challenge that requires significant coordination, planning, and buy-in from all stakeholders.

PSD Data Analytics currently has three modules: Infrastructure Database of CanadaCanada's Open Cities Index  and the Geospatial Maturity Index

SURVEY NOW OPEN: Geospatial Maturity Index - 2008

The Geospatial Maturity Index (GMI), the latest addition to PSD's suite of municipal benchmarking initiatives - seeks to benchmark public sector GIS initiatives.

The GMI serves to audit existing municipal GIS programs and allows participating organizations to compare themselves against their peer groups and track their progress over time, based on specific core competencies.
